Last weekend was the Fourth Annual British Aquaponic Conference held by FishPlant partners BAQUA (British Aquaponic Association) - and it was a complete sell out!
The event was held over 2 days. The first day was a hands-on commercial aquaponics course by Antonio Paladino of BioAquaFarm. As well as allowing attendees to get involved on his commercial farm he took the time to share his knowledge and expertise. Antonio was then generous enough to provide a fabulous buffet featuring Smoked Trout, MicroGreens and Salad - all grown on the farm.
The convention on day two featured talks from Dr Benz Kotzen of the Aquaponics Research hub, Adrian Nutall of EURFE and Mark Horler from the Association of Vertical Farming (AVF). This gave the experts an opportunity to share their expertise and give guidance and advice to those who are looking to delve into aquaponics both professionally and as a hobby.
Stephen Fry of HydroGarden attended the event and said that “It is great to see the number of people interested in aquaponics growing. Events like this are important to help those people, to give them support and a platform to go ahead and create a more sustainable way of farming in the future”.
